  • Monika Páez, Mixed Media

Monika Gerianna Páez (born 1996, Tracy, CA) is a mixed media greeting card designer residing in Lodi. Her motivation for working in this medium is that greeting cards are perfect for conveying feelings to someone or for conveying a message to them. Music, emotions, horticulture, and her interests inspire her creations, and she enjoys expressing them through her cards. During her art-making process, she listens to music while sketching or collaging on a blank card as well as taking inspiration from what she sees around her. Furthermore, she may choose to focus on a subject or idea that is of particular interest to her at the moment. To understand her work, it is essential to understand that she sometimes creates multiple versions. This is until she feels she has successfully presented every detail of the subject using multiple mediums.

  • Jessica Hobson, Botanicals

You will find me among the flowers. Literally. I have always been drawn to the intricate detail and beauty of flowers and have been pressing them for as long as I can remember. This seemingly random hobby blossomed into an artistic adventure as I began using these pressed botanicals as a medium for artwork. With a passion for exploration and learning, I often find myself reflecting on local flora, fauna, ecological interactions, and cartography, all of which are infused into my pieces. I invite you to draw closer and linger for a moment in fascination and wonder at the natural world around us and realize that we are also intricately and beautifully created.

  • Dita Lewis-Panter, Ceramics

I love the feel of the clay moving through my hands. Centering the clay is a spiritual, meditative process. I can always tell when I’m not quite centered myself when it takes too long to center my clay. Creating a pleasing vessel or functional piece knowing that it started as just a lump of clay is very satisfying. Deciding on color once a piece is ready for glazing can be so much fun. I also enjoy alternative firing; raku, saggar, wood or soda, these are all fun options with unpredictable results. I’ve always loved horses and they play a big part in my life. I love to do horsehair raku and if I’m going to sculpt anything, it’s going to be a horse.

  • Geneva Mello, Painter

My current series draws inspiration from vintage discarded photographs of women and families. I find the source images in antique stores, garage sales, old family albums, local history books and archives. The scenes are edited and altered to suggest dream and nostalgia, with compositions that allow for an open narrative. Rather than remain a discarded or forgotten photograph, the highlighted female figures and their settings are transformed to explore traditional gender roles and power dynamics. Using pre-digital reference images as a starting point, I seek to create an open narrative driven by memory activation. Working in a painterly style, I use drawing and paint media to create ambiguity, allowing marks and brushstrokes to form veils and layers of perception.

  • Tony Segale

Tony Segale’s artistic endeavors started in childhood, doodling ideas and images both fitting and unsuitable, and cartooning for the school newspaper. Primarily self taught, he began hand lettering signs and pictorials as a side gig during his first career in the retail meat trade. Switching to a new endeavor as a full time commercial artist, Tony specializes in reverse glass gold leaf and large format murals, with watercolors being utilized in the creation of maquettes and design. Soon, he found himself expressing his own observations with a twist of what ought to be.

Tony considers himself an abstract realism painter, original interpretations created in his graphic bravado style. "Every creative action risks failure. If the risks are little, the reward is little"

Tony likes to paint plein air, or work from sketches on location then re-imagined in the studio. He teaches workshops in the study of watercolor, drawing, brush lettering and reverse glass gold leaf.
